Strict standards are highly static, unique, and linked definitions to provide maximum certainty about the meaning of an information asset or an information asset property. Strict standards enable a common understanding and support by a wide range of users, and encourage sharing, evaluation, and comparison of information.
Strict standards are supplemented by flexible standards which cover meaning, interpretation, and evolution that strict definitions are unable to deliver. Users cannot edit the meaning of strict standards (in contrast to flexible standards which can be added and modified by users).
Common examples for strict standards include a skyscraper, an architect, or a steel framework.
